Credit Card Theft
Credit Card Theft Defense Lawyers in Marietta, Georgia
Credit card theft is a felony charge that can lead to a sentence of years in prison. These are complex charges for which prosecutors are often able to provide reams of evidence. However, this does not mean they will be able to prove your guilt "beyond a reasonable doubt."
If you are facing charges of credit card theft, our lawyers have the skill and experience necessary to help. Our two lawyers have over 50 years of combined experience in criminal law. They are both former prosecutors, and attorney Ray Gary Jr. is a former criminal court judge. We are intimately familiar with criminal law and with the Cobb County criminal justice system.

Credit Card Theft Involves Multiple Criminal Charges
Most individuals charged with credit card theft actually face a broad number of charges. Credit card theft (also known as "financial transaction card theft") only refers to the crime of physically stealing someone else's credit card with the intent to use it (electronically stealing and using a credit card number constitutes credit card fraud charges). Each time you use the card, you can be charged with a separate count of forgery.
Additionally, each time the card is used, an electronic record is made and stored in a database with the credit card company and with the store where the purchase was made. You will likely face multiple charges relating to numerous independent crimes.
Fighting to Reduce Penalties or Have Charges Dropped
When we handle these cases, we first work to show that the prosecutor's evidence is insufficient to support a conviction. The best outcome is to either have the charges dropped or to obtain a not-guilty verdict in trial. If the evidence is too strong, we can still potentially have the charges dropped by negotiating for a diversionary program.
If no diversionary alternative is available, we use all the methods, resources and tactics at our disposal to minimize the client's charges and reduce the sentence as much as possible.
Each client at the Ray Gary Jr., Law Office, works directly with our attorneys in formulating a defense. In every case, we devote the time, energy and focus necessary to identify and implement the most effective available strategy.
