Reducing the Effects of a Speeding Violation
The penalties you face with a speeding ticket depend on the number of miles over the limit you were accused of going:
- 15 to 19 mph is two points
- 19 to 24 mph is three points
- 24 to 34 mph is four points
- 34 mph or more is six points
In some cases, it may be possible to have the speeding ticket taken off your record. In other cases, our attorneys may be able to reduce the speed to a lower amount in order to minimize the impact on your driving record. If you were going less than 14 mph over the posted limit, for example, you will receive no points on your driving record. The number of points you receive can impact on your insurance and if you receive more than 15 points in a year, you will lose your license.
